Bravo, Balanchine!

Ballet Chicago brings two of George Balanchine’s most beloved Masterworks to life. Concerto Barocco is widely recognized as one of the purest ballets of all time. This seminal example of neo-classic dancing is known the world over for its simplicity and beauty. Balanchine’s usage of rhythm, stage patterns, movement design and symmetry is unsurpassed, resulting in a work so clear in its construction that it actually enables the viewer to “see the music’. Divertimento No. 15, set to W. A. Mozart’s score of the same title, is Balanchine’s second treatment of what he considered the finest divertimento ever written. Incorporating many of the steps from his earlier work, Balanchine’s final Divertimento No. 15 is a work of classical brilliance and elegance widely regarded as a definitive illumination of Mozart’s exquisite score.
