Ballet Chicago’s three scholarship programs aim to cultivate a new generation of exceptional dancers who will contribute to the ballet art form both on stage and beyond.

Philip and Marsha Dowd Merit Scholarship
The Philip and Marsha Dowd Merit Scholarship Program was established in 2002 to provide scholarship opportunities for gifted students. Students are selected based on their talent, technique, potential, and commitment. Since its inception, the Dowd Merit Scholarship has supported over ___ dancers, many of whom have gone on to dance professionally for prestigious companies such as _____.

Dance for Tomorrow Financial Aid Scholarship:

The Dance for Tomorrow Scholarship provides formal ballet training to children from low-income families, regardless of age, ethnicity, or background. Established in 1996 under the Illinois' Statewide Opportunities for Arts and Recreation (SOAR) initiative, the program now operates independently with support from Ballet Chicago's annual donations. Students served by Dance for Tomorrow receive free or reduced tuition fees. The program caters to students across all levels, from beginners in Creative Movement to advanced dancers in our Studio Company, offering a nurturing and supportive environment for high-quality dance education.

Male Scholarship Program
Ballet Chicago’s Male Scholarship Program fosters the growth of talented young men by providing financial support and advanced training opportunities. Designed for aspiring male dancers aged 15 and up, this program offers partial or full scholarships to cover tuition, training, and performance costs at our school.

The program emphasizes not only technical excellence but also artistic development, mentorship, and personal growth. Since its inception in 2002, over 25 recipients have gone on to dance in professional companies across the US, Europe, and South America.
