Ballet Chicago's two-week Advanced Workshop for advanced dancers is a perfect complement to our five-week Summer Intensive. Dancers immerse themselves in a complete Ballet Curriculum: Technique, Pointe, Men's Technique, and Repertory Studies with supplemental classes in Pilates, Gyrokinesis, Floor Barre, Stretch and Yoga.
We have a wonderful program in place for you with our top-level faculty. We are quite excited to have guest faculty members Ashley Bouder, Sara Mearns and Simone Messmer as well as our own Mr. Duell and Mr. Seymour coaching Repertory Studies.
Through a special arrangement with the George Balanchine Trust, Ms. Ashley Bouder will be teaching excerpts from Mr. Balanchine’s Donizetti Variations and Raymonda Variations, and Ms. Sara Mearns will be coaching sections from Mr. Balanchine’s Mozartiana to work on with the dancers. Ms. Simone Messmer will be teaching our Level 1’s the iconic Act 3 ballerina solo from Petipa’s Raymonda Variations (this one you will recognize instantly), Mr. Duell will be working on Mr. Balanchine’s Apollo variation for the Men, and Mr. Seymour is planning new choreography. We know you won’t want to miss out on these very special two weeks.
Learning and going in depth in classical and neo-classic variations is a key element of this workshop. Students are coached daily to gain the skill, musicality, and self confidence that enable them to transform classroom technique into artistry. The program concludes with a Zoom class visitation for families and friends on August 8th.
