Repertoire Studies Workshops
We are happy to announce that Ballet Chicago’s 2021 Digital Season will include five weeks of Repertoire Studies Workshops – Master Classes for Intermediate and Advanced Students. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to learn steps from ballets presented in the season, then tune into that night’s performance to see what they have just learned in performance. Here is a peek at what you can expect:
Saturday, February 27th at 4:00pm
Dancers will learn the opening steps of Mr. Duell’s leg-flying, finger-snapping finale from Ellington Suite.
Saturday, March 6th at 4:00pm
Test your brain and your body to learn the First Movement “Crazy Step” and the Third Movement “Hops” from George Balanchine’s peerless Concerto Barocco
Saturday, March 13th at 4:00pm
Mr. Seymour guides dancers through choreographic sequences from this week’s ballets – Intermezzi, LongLivingLine, and Celestial Rites
Saturday, March 20th at 4:00pm
Mr. Seymour guides dancers through choreographic sequences from this week’s ballets – Secrets de Printemps
and Creatures of Prometheus
Saturday, March 27th at 4:00pm
Ballet Chicago’s final class of the Repertory Studies Workshop will include sections from three ballets. We start with the opening steps from Mr. Balanchine’s Who Cares?, then move to the “entrechat” section from the Swan Queen’s variation from Balanchine’s Swan Lake. We then finish with the intricate “Five Man Tango” section from Mr. Seymour’ s Danzon! Each very different in flavor, and sure to challenge you in your final class.
