Since the School of Ballet Chicago's inception in 1995, the organization's programs, performances, and enrollment have experienced tremendous growth. In addition, the Ballet Chicago studios have become home for Deeply Rooted Productions (for the past twelve years), and more recently, the rehearsal home for Luna Negra Dance Theatre.

Ballet Chicago's growth, coupled with the expanded activities of both resident companies and increasing cross-company collaborations, has resulted in the need for a more spacious and modern facility. To that end, the Ballet Chicago Board of Directors embarked on a project to find a new, state-of-the-art facility that would enable the organization to expand its presence in the Chicago community, increase performance and outreach activites, and ensure continued growth.

Negotiations for a new space were completed in August of 2009 and Ballet Chicago moved into its new home, along with its resident companies, in October of 2009.

By contributing to the Next Step Fund, your donation will ensure Ballet Chicago's acquisition and move into our new home.
