CHAPERONE SYSTEM
In order to more effectively supervise our students, the School of Ballet Chicago has developed the following system to monitor students’ travels and activities. ALL students, regardless of chaperone level, must be escorted by a chaperone within the University Center to different areas of the building. Ballet Chicago has implemented the following system for travel outside of the University Center, including outings and field trips. There are no exceptions, regardless of distance or location.
Ballet Chicago will issue an identification card to each student. This card will be used to identify any health issues that an adult may need to know in the case of an emergency. The card will also identify the student's chaperone level. The Ballet Chicago identification card and a photo ID must be kept on all students at all times.
Please read and discuss the options listed below with your child. It is imperative that all parties understand the student-chaperone system and adhere to it.
| UNCHAPERONED: |
The student may travel to and from any areas outside the studio or dormitories on their own, without supervision. |
| BUDDY SYSTEM: |
The student may travel to and from any areas outside the studio or dormitories as long as they are with ONE other person. |
| GROUP: |
The student may travel to and from any areas outside the studio or dormitories as long as they are in a GROUP OF 4 (3 other people and themselves). |
| CHAPERONED: |
The student MAY NOT travel to and from any areas outside the studio or dormitories unless they are with a Chaperone, Resident Advisor or Designated Adult (i.e. parent or relative). |
*A $20.00 fee will be charged to the student if the chaperone level is changed in the middle of the session. Please decide carefully when choosing the appropriate level for your child. Students will also be charged a $20 fee for replacing a lost card.
**Please note: The term “person” can refer to another student, relative, etc. It does not refer to a Chaperone, Resident Advisor or Ballet Chicago Staff member. |
