The Philip and Marsha Dowd Merit Scholarship Match

The Philip and Marsha Dowd Merit Scholarship Program was established in 2002 through a generous gift from Mr. and Mrs. Dowd. The Merit Scholarship Program offers tuition assistance to gifted students. It also supports world-class guest teachers, repetiteurs, and choreographers. This past year, our students were brimming with excitement over their opportunity to train with Sandra Jennings, Darci Kistler, Sheila Rozann, and Ted Seymour. These exceptional teachers, through their years of dance experience, provide tremendous wisdom and guidance to all of our dancers.

Mr. and Mrs. Dowd have generously offered a Scholarship Match challenge, and will match your donation dollar for dollar up to $45,000. Striving for student achievement in both dance and personal excellence is the hallmark of our training philosophy. After 25 years, we are thrilled to count among our alumni not only beautifully trained professional dancers, but doctors, lawyers, visual artists, scientists, teachers and much, much more. Ballet training, particularly here at Ballet Chicago, provides not just for the development of exemplary skills, but more importantly, for the development of the whole person. To that end, we tip our hat to the thousands of young people who have shared their enthusiasm, tenacity, and hard work with us over the past 25 years!
