I. Audition Tour
Admission into the 2012 Summer Course and 2012 Advanced Intensive Programs are by audition only. Faculty members from the School of Ballet Chicago will conduct a National Audition Tour during the months of January and February of 2012. If you are unable to attend a scheduled audition, you may audition by appointment or send a video audition.

Please bring to the on-site auditions:

  • $25.00 audition fee*
  • Headshot (school photo acceptable)
  • Photo in first arabesque (no larger than 5"x7")

II. Audition Fees
An application fee of $25.00 (cash, check or money order payable to the School of Ballet Chicago) is required at the time of the audition. Pre-registrations for the audition tour have a discounted, non-refundable application fee of $20.00. Please bring a headshot (school photo acceptable) and a photo in first arabesque. For video auditions, the fee is $35.00.





III. Notification
Notification of the audition results will be sent via e-mail to applicants within two weeks of their audition date. If you have not received your notification after two weeks, please notify the Summer Course Administrator. Audition results will not be given over the telephone.

IV. Tuition
Summer Course fees:
Tuition: $1950
Registration: $50
Housing: $2,300 (+ $125 activity fee)
Advanced Intensive fees:
Tuition: $875
Registration: $50
Housing: $905 (+ $50 activity fee)

V. Scholarships
Scholarships, either full or partial, are awarded on a case by case basis and only a limited number of scholarships are offered each summer. Scholarships are available for tuition only.

VI. Video Auditions
For those of you who live too far away to attend a scheduled audition, video auditions are accepted. To audition by mail, please print our Video Audition Form and return it with your video/dvd, photographs, and $35.00 application fee. All videos must be received by April 30, 2012.

The video/dvd should include the following classroom exercises. Be sure you are the only person in the video. Please keep the videotape simple. It is only to see your class work and not a choreographic exercise. If you have a performance video, you are welcome to submit it along with the required videotape. The full video should be no more than 15 - 20 minutes in length.

  • First Arabesque (profile), women on pointe
  • Developpe a la seconde (profile)
  • Grand plie in second position from the side
  • Sous sus, women on pointe
