How To Apply For The Ballet Chicago Male Scholarship Program

Scholarship Availability:
Ballet Chicago's Male Scholarships are awarded to aspiring dancers ages 15-20. All prospective students must audition to qualify for scholarships. Scholarships include:
  • Ballet Chicago Annual Program (September - May)
  • Ballet Chicago Boot Camp
  • Ballet Chicago five-week Summer Course
  • Ballet Chicago two-week Advanced Intensive
  • Acceptance into the Ballet Chicago Studio Company, with opportunity to perform in Ballet Chicago's Spring Repertory at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance, Ballet Chicago's Nutcracker at the Athenaeum Theatre, and other performances.

DVD Application:
For those who cannot attend a scheduled audition, DVD auditions are accepted. To audition by DVD, print our DVD application form and return it with your audition DVD and photographs. You may also submit materials through a secure YouTube or Vimeo link.

The DVD should be no more than 20 minutes in length and must include the following:

- Barre:
Plie, tendu, degage, ronde de jambe, developpe, frappe, grande battement

- Center:
Adagio, Pirouettes (inside and outside), petite allegro, grand allegro, battu combination, tour en lair

- Partnering:
Promenade in first arabesque, pirouettes, shoulder lift

- Photographs:
First arabesque (profile), grand plie in second position (profile)
